Once you are in Zoom you will be able to see the Zoom navigation bar. This bar has all the buttons that you need to interact with the conference.

Zoom is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for users of Zoom. As a part of protecting your information and the integrity of their platform Zoom have made a decision to only allow up-to-date versions of Zoom to connect into meetings. You can download the latest version of Zoom by visiting Zoom download centre.
If you drop off the Zoom for any reason, you can reaccess the Zoom meeting using the same link we will have already sent you.
The easiest way to ask a question during the conference is to place it in the Zoom chat. The conference facilitator will select some questions from the chat to pose to the presenter. At the discretion of the conference facilitator some audience members may be invited to ask their questions live. To use chat go to the Zoom navigation bar click on the chat icon or the more button and select "Chat". Please note your message will only be visible in the Room you are currently in.
A second way to ask a question is to use the "raise your hand" option in Zoom. We will be monitoring for these throughout the day and a conference host will contact you via chat.
When you first enter the Zoom meeting a pop-up may appear prompting you to connect your audio by clicking a button. If your audio is still not working, this could be for a variety of reasons including your headphones are not properly connected, the wrong audio output is selected, or your sound or volume setting need adjusting. For an in-depth guide to troubleshooting visit the Zoom Support guide linked here. If you are still unable to resolve the problem, you are welcome to call us on +61 2 6247 0177.
To help those with auditory impairment or if you just like to read the subtitles we have activated the Zoom transcript for the meeting. To access this yourself please click on the button at the bottom of your Zoom screen called "Show Captions". This may be found under the “More” button.
If you need to change the way that the subtitles are shown please select the option "Caption settings". You can make the subtitles bigger or smaller. Please note that this does not impact the subtitles for other Zoom meeting participants. Only English subtitles are available for this conference. Please do not attempt to change the language of the subtitles.
You are unable to directly message panellists. However, you are welcome to use the general Zoom Chat to ask questions. Click on the Chat button at the bottom of the Zoom screen. Private direct messages have been disabled for this meeting. Please note your message will only be visible in the Room you are currently in.
To provide a helpful and respectful webinar there are a few protocols that we follow, namely:
If you get the error message shown below, simply press OK. Then, click join in browser at the very bottom of the screen to open zoom in your browser rather than in the zoom client.
This year we will have three different rooms where participants can explore different talks and content. The Stata Room is the main room where participants first enter the Zoom which will have presentations running all day. The Research Room will open at 1:25 PM and have more applied presentations running at the same time as the Stata Room. The Learning Room will open at 10:10 AM and is designed for those new to Stata. This room will show a series of videos covering Stata basics and features. You can move freely between Rooms throughout the conference.
The Stata Room is the main room in the Zoom that you will enter immediately after being admitted from the waiting room. To join the Research Room or Learning Room click the button at the bottom of your Zoom screen “Join Breakout Room”. You may need to click on “More” to find this button.
You can then select “Join” on the Room you would like to visit.
This screen should then appear.
To swap rooms click “Join Breakout Room” again and follow the same steps. To go back to the Stata Room see below.
To return to the Stata room from one of the other Rooms click “Leave room” then “Leave breakout room”.
If you accidently click “Leave meeting” you can re-join using the same Zoom link.
The following screen should appear.
